Donna Whitford Housel has been interested in nature art since childhood, wandering the hills and fields of Bedford County, Pennsylvania gathering fossils and bones. The last several years Donna has dedicated her time to seriously pursuing her art ambitions.
Donna creates her wildlife art with pastels, colored pencils and scratch art representing the animals that she sees around her home. From birds to the black bears there is always something to portray in her realism.
Donna has had several one-man shows and many wildlife art shows in central Pennsylvania and Maryland. In 2003 Rocky Gap Resort in Flintstone, Maryland chose her colored pencil, "The Birds of Rocky Gap", to be used on their Lakeside Restaurant menu cover. “The Birds of Rocky Gap” is now available in giclee prints, a limited edition run of 250.
She is now working on some upcoming wildlife shows in the area. Donna has been invited to take part in one such show titled “Foul Weather” coming up in January 2005 at the Ice House Gallery in Berkley Springs, West Virginia. She also teaches her mediums to adults and young people in the area, which she enjoys greatly.
Donna is represented by The Rocky Gap Revolving Gallery, Flintstone, Maryland and the Gypsy Hill Gallery in Lititz, Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators and the Wildlife Artist Association.
