The wildlife art of Shirley Lynn
Shirley Lynn moved from her native England to the United States in January, 1987, to paint the northern New Mexico landscape. She graduated from Harrow School of Art in London in 1978, with a degree in Illustration. She worked in London from 1978 to 1986 as a book designer, illustrator, graphic designer and studio manager, meanwhile painting on commission. She now lives with her daughter. Sienna, in Santa Fe, New Mexico; painting at her studio-gallery on Canyon Road, and faux-painting for clients.
After an inspirational trip to the Galapagos Islands in April, 2006, with her parents and daughter, Shirley became inspired to paint wildlife to help raise awareness of what we are doing to our environment. She started painting wildlife from the Galapagos Islands and began a fundraiser to help protect this unique place, donating a percentage of the painting sales to the Galapagos Foundation. This led to paintings of New Mexico wildlife and, in turn, to wildlife from other parts of the world. The focus of all these paintings is to draw attention to the preservation of our natural world.
